So disappointed!!

This is the first time in years that I was not able to make my kids a costume for Halloween!! It is kind of depressing. They are all happy and I guess that is really what matter but...

Will you let me reminisce?

This year we will have a red and blue Power Ranger, a Zombie Prom Queen, and a scary Werewolf. Pretty basic and boring, huh?

A Review?

So what did we learn this week in the world of ASL?? Are you seeing a change? Are you communicating more? Was it worth the read this week? Should we continue?? I think it makes me more accountable!

Speaking of...

Speaking of pretend play... a lot of children with autism have anxiety about going to the doctor. Heck most kids do! How fun would it be to play doctor at home with your little one and get them ready for what to expect at the doctor! Check out our new felt doctor set!

^^LOOK your little could even dress up as a nurse! Or maybe they have "head injury." Now let's
take a closer look at what is inside the bag!

My littles actually put the iPads down and quit playing Minecraft so they could pretend to be doctors and patients! It was the cutest!!!

Thursday Sign of the Day

"MORE" was one of the first signs we learned...mostly because we already knew it but also because he ALWAYS wanted "more" cheese!
The easiest and fastest way to teach "more", that I have found is to read the book  Bear Wants More.
Every time you read the word "more" (and it will be a lot) sign the word and help your child sign it too. You all will be signing more in no time flat!

Pretend Play

Did you know that pretend play is very important for children with Autism?? It is and a lack of the ability to participate in pretend play is one of the early signs of Autism. Pretend Play can be many things like play with with a baby or felt food. BUT it cal also mean dressing up!!!

SUPERHERO to the rescue...

Wednesday Sign of the Day

Some times when I am looking these signs up I get totally confused by pictures. I mean seriously, look at Thursday! What in the world.

So when I cannot figure these things out by just looking at a picture I usually go to this website and watch the videos (

Of course there is no video of Thursday...ugh. So, now what?
I found this one...but it is WAY TO FAST!

Do you know of an APP?
I guess for now I will use finger spelling. At least until Friday when the Speech Therapist comes and I can ask her.

Tuesday Sign of the Day #ASL

HA! When I saw this picture while searching for a signs to share today I KNEW this was the one!! How true is this! Break the language barrier with your non-verbal little one and learn ASL with!
Here are a couple of the activities I made to help enhance OUR (yes our) learning! Early intervention is the key to success for children diagnosed with Autism. I am committed to doing WHATEVER it takes
to make Lawson (a.k.a. Aussie) successful!

Let me tell you a story...

Do you love little nursery rhymes as much as I do? Especially one that are interactive and get your child involved and more engaged in learning?
One of my favs as kid was The Itsy Bitsy Spider! All the actions where so much fun but my favorite was when the poor little spider gets WASHED OUT! Oh the good old days of just singing and playing.
Well, I wanted to bring new life to the old song for my kids. So, I created a busy book just for that spider! This book is perfect for sequencing, story telling, retelling. fine motor skills, learning colors, talking about simple machines, and so much more!
Pages included are:
- cover page
- Zipper spider up the spout
- Pulley System rain coming down
- Pop-up clouds with peek-a-boo sun and button on flowers
Busy books are a great way to keep your kids occupied on long car trips, during church, and any other time you need a few minutes of peace and quiet!
Busy book pages are 9" x 12" and have 3 button holes so you can bind them together with metal book rings and pages as your child grows, making it easy to share with siblings and friends!
Want one for yourself or favorite little? You can find it in my etsy shop :

Monday Sign of the Day

I HAVE to learn more sign language to be able to communicate with the little man. His vocabulary is ever expanding but he is such a visual learner that when it is paired with ASL he retains it much better. So I am will be trying to post a sign of the day. I am going to try it this week and see how it goes.
Do you want to learn ASL with me?

Do you know the ASL Alphabet yet? We have been working on it.

I have made several items to enhance our (yes OUR) learning. You know learning ASL is not as easy as I remember when I was a kid. Thankfully, Aussie is like a little sponge right now and is absorbing it all. <3

Do you use Sign Language in your home? What are some of strategies you use?
