Magic Trick (Cleaning your shower)

I have been dying to show you all this and cannot ever seem to find the time to add it to the blog. SO, I am FINALLY bringing MAMA Monday back and in honor of MAMA Monday we will be celebrating MAMAs all week with whatever I think is MAMA related! HA! I am one silly MAMA, huh!
OKAY, so this post may not be for all MAMAs but if you have a SHOWER or TUB then this post is for you! (So hopefully that is EVERYONE)!
I have a TEENY TINY shower with CLEAR NON-TEXTURED glass (I thought it would be sexy or something) which a MAJOR pain in the arse to clean. You know what I am saying?? Okay so here are some pics of my shower...
See all that disgusting soap scummy water spotty mess?!? Don't you judge me! I am a busy lady! Just kidding, I purposely let it get this way so that I could show you this magic trick. Here is another picture for your vomiting pleasure...
OKAY NOW LOOK AT THIS!!!!
CAN YOU SAY CRYSTAL CLEAR????
HERE ARE A FEW MORE PICTURES FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT...

YOU WANNA KNOW THE BEST PART OF THE SET OF SHOWER PICTURES?? I have NOT cleaned those glass door in over a month and they are still CRYSTAL CLEAR!!
Do I squeegee them daily? NOPE!
Do I spray nasty cleaner on them and rinse it daily? NOPE!
Did I have to use some sort of toxic cleaner? NOPE!
Do I bleach them? NOPE!
Do I even use a bathroom cleaner on them? HECK NO!
So who wants to know the MAGIC behind this cleaning trick???
Well, okay and maybe you have heard this before but I use
LEMON DUSTING SPRAY
and a little green or blue scrubby!
Okay so here is what you have to do...
1) Spray your TILE & Glass door with LEMON (or citrus based dusting aerosol spray)
2) Let is sit for about 15-20 minutes (grab a drink and catch up on your DVR or read a book)
3) After you have waited for the spray to works it's MAGIC come back and scrub just like you would if you were cleaning your shower normally but with out all the elbow grease (sometimes, but not always, I use a magic eraser)
4) RINSE WELL (it is fine if the water beads up still...YOU WANT THAT)
5) Do not clean again until you want to!
SO WHY DOES IT WORK AND LAST SO LONG???
Well, let me tell you! Citrus juices is a known cleaner and we all know that! So, the acid in the critrus eats through all of your GUNK & GRIM so you do not have to work so hard to get it off! AND it last so long because the oils used in the clean repell the water and soap scum making it take longer for your shower to ICKY!
PLUS, IT MAKES YOUR BATHROOM SMELL DELICIOUSLY CLEAN!
Some important issues to note:
DO NOT SPRAY DUST CLEANER ON THE FLOOR OF THE TUB/SHOWER! YOU WILL SLIP AND FALL!
DO NOT USE THE ORANGE KIND OF DUSTING SPRAY...FOR WHATEVER REASON IT IS A HUGE PAIN IN THE REAR TO GET OFF!!
YOU CAN USE THIS METHOD ON ANY TYPE OF SHOWER/TUB!
I STILL SPRAY AND SCRUB MY SHOWER BASE ON CLEANING DAY.
Okay, so are you going to try it?
I SWEAR BY THIS CLEANING METHOD. Go ahead and think I am lazy for not cleaning those doors or tile more than once a month! I will be laughing to myself while you are cleaning yours!
Seriously, if can save myself even 60 seconds on cleaning...well that is just heaven and this saves a TON of time!
So go try it. Tell me what you think.

  11. Oh my goodness! I am so glad I found this! My glass shower looks like your before pictures, but sadly I wasn't keeping it that way for my blog! I am definitely going to have to try this! Of course, I'll probably need to clean the inside of my shower too. I figured there was no point in cleaning that if you couldn't see through the glass!

    ReplyDelete
  53. This works on the tile enclosure also. I got this tip from an ex-Marine. He said they always used lemon furniture polish when cleaning the latrines so they wouldn't have to work so hard or as often between inspections!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I just tried this and it looks really greasy, what am i doing wrong here?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just read everyones response but no answer is it Lemon Pledge you are using? I want to do this but I want the right stuff. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  56. Would it work the same on textured glass?

    ReplyDelete
  57. So is it Lemon Pledge? I don't think it ever got answered

    ReplyDelete
  58. i did it! i used Pledge lemon spray, sprayed it on heavy, waited 15 min, rinsed, waited a couple min. then wiped dry. Awesome! thx!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Just tried this and it didn't work for me. :( I used Lemon Pledge and followed all directions. It could be that the glass shower door has the water spots etched into the glass since it's an older door. It looks great and shiney when it's wet, but as soon as it's completely dry I get the little white water spots again which make the glass looking overall cloudy.

    ReplyDelete
  60. This did not work for me. :( I know for a fact that we live in a town that has some of the hardest water in the US, so I think it's just the stubborn hard water here. Also, I used "Endust" as opposed to "Pledge." Not sure if that makes a difference, but I'm so disappointed.
