OKAY, so this post may not be for all MAMAs but if you have a SHOWER or TUB then this post is for you! (So hopefully that is EVERYONE)!
I have a TEENY TINY shower with CLEAR NON-TEXTURED glass (I thought it would be sexy or something) which a MAJOR pain in the arse to clean. You know what I am saying?? Okay so here are some pics of my shower...
See all that disgusting soap scummy water spotty mess?!? Don't you judge me! I am a busy lady! Just kidding, I purposely let it get this way so that I could show you this magic trick. Here is another picture for your vomiting pleasure...
OKAY NOW LOOK AT THIS!!!!
CAN YOU SAY CRYSTAL CLEAR????
HERE ARE A FEW MORE PICTURES FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT...
YOU WANNA KNOW THE BEST PART OF THE SET OF SHOWER PICTURES?? I have NOT cleaned those glass door in over a month and they are still CRYSTAL CLEAR!!
Do I squeegee them daily? NOPE!
Do I spray nasty cleaner on them and rinse it daily? NOPE!
Did I have to use some sort of toxic cleaner? NOPE!
Do I bleach them? NOPE!
Do I even use a bathroom cleaner on them? HECK NO!
So who wants to know the MAGIC behind this cleaning trick???
Well, okay and maybe you have heard this before but I use
LEMON DUSTING SPRAY
and a little green or blue scrubby!
Okay so here is what you have to do...
1) Spray your TILE & Glass door with LEMON (or citrus based dusting aerosol spray)
2) Let is sit for about 15-20 minutes (grab a drink and catch up on your DVR or read a book)
3) After you have waited for the spray to works it's MAGIC come back and scrub just like you would if you were cleaning your shower normally but with out all the elbow grease (sometimes, but not always, I use a magic eraser)
4) RINSE WELL (it is fine if the water beads up still...YOU WANT THAT)
5) Do not clean again until you want to!
SO WHY DOES IT WORK AND LAST SO LONG???
Well, let me tell you! Citrus juices is a known cleaner and we all know that! So, the acid in the critrus eats through all of your GUNK & GRIM so you do not have to work so hard to get it off! AND it last so long because the oils used in the clean repell the water and soap scum making it take longer for your shower to ICKY!
PLUS, IT MAKES YOUR BATHROOM SMELL DELICIOUSLY CLEAN!
Some important issues to note:
DO NOT SPRAY DUST CLEANER ON THE FLOOR OF THE TUB/SHOWER! YOU WILL SLIP AND FALL!
DO NOT USE THE ORANGE KIND OF DUSTING SPRAY...FOR WHATEVER REASON IT IS A HUGE PAIN IN THE REAR TO GET OFF!!
YOU CAN USE THIS METHOD ON ANY TYPE OF SHOWER/TUB!
I STILL SPRAY AND SCRUB MY SHOWER BASE ON CLEANING DAY.
Okay, so are you going to try it?
I SWEAR BY THIS CLEANING METHOD. Go ahead and think I am lazy for not cleaning those doors or tile more than once a month! I will be laughing to myself while you are cleaning yours!
Seriously, if can save myself even 60 seconds on cleaning...well that is just heaven and this saves a TON of time!
So go try it. Tell me what you think.

ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome idea. We don't have a glass shower door, but do you use it on the walls? Lol, I can only imagine the slippery floor.:)
ReplyDeleteGreat tip! I'll have to give it a try since I'm the one who takes the second shower each morning and gets to squeegee the doors.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Hi there. Visiting from Rook 17. I don't like using bottled chemicals. Do you think this wd work using vinegar? I am going to try it today. Hmmmmm...
ReplyDeleteI am def going to try it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I've been wanting a glass shower door but one of the reasons I've not (besides money, hehe) is the cleanup. You've just solved that! Genius! ~Rachel
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I am so glad I found this! My glass shower looks like your before pictures, but sadly I wasn't keeping it that way for my blog! I am definitely going to have to try this! Of course, I'll probably need to clean the inside of my shower too. I figured there was no point in cleaning that if you couldn't see through the glass!

ReplyDeleteOk... gotta try it! So the oily stuff doesn't make your door look all greasy or streaky? Are you talking about a product like Pledge? Definitely interested in trying this out!

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try!
ReplyDeletewho ever came up w/ the idea for clear glass shower doors? I'm so giving this a try. Since I don't dust, I'm going to go out and invest in some Pledge.

Have you tried making your own citrus cleaner? (If you'd like to know how http://ecofootprintsa.blogspot.com/2011/07/lemon-harvest.html - after it's matured for a few weeks, grab a spray bottle, fill it with the mixture and spray away :) )
ReplyDeleteI've done this to my kitchen sink before to make it shiny but I never thought of the bathroom! I may have to give it a try! Stopping by from Serenity Now.
ReplyDeleteI'm so trying this. can you use it on the walls?
ReplyDeleteYes you can I use pledge on my wall behind the stove and it makes the grease splatters much easier to clean.
DeleteOOH! I am so going to try this one! Thanks for sharing on Fancy This Fridays Jenni!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at magically clean. I hate cleaning the bathroom and how quickly it gets dirty. Thank you so much for sharing!! I said to myself I need to follow this girl. If you ever have time please stop by http://scrappysugargirl.blogspot.com/

PS I'm hopping over from Happy Hour.
PSS I'm pinning this tip.
Lemon dusting spray? You mean like pledge? I spent zillions of dollars (well, a lot) to have my window cleaner clean my shower doors to make them look that nice. I'm dying now and don't want to pay the money.
ReplyDeleteCan you let me know too!! Is it pledge?
DeleteOK my shower doors are the bain of my existence. We are at war with each other and they're winning. Are you talking about Pledge or that kind of dusting spray? Seriously? I am SOOOOOOOO going to try this. I am determined to win this battle!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with your shiny shower doors! This IS magic!
ReplyDeleteGreat tip! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYeah....I want to know toooo.....Are you talking about something like Lemon Pledge??? Thanks for this great tip! :)

wow! your my new best friend... this worked Great !! thank you! thank you ! thank you !
ReplyDeletePlace a bath towel on the bottom to prevent the spray from making it slippery. Most cleaning jobs are made easier when the solution is left to do its work before scrubbing or wipping.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this tip...amazing! I must try it...I hate cleaning the shower!
ReplyDeleteDefinately going to try! We use Windex and good ol fashioned elbow grease!
ReplyDeleteI saw this on Pinterest, tried it and it works! Thanks for this time saving method!
ReplyDeleteSounds very interesting and I'd live to try it but I must say it was a little frustrating to read so many many comments of people asking you if you meant .... To use a product like Pledge and you never responded to any of them that I could see.
ReplyDeleteThis works on the tile enclosure also. I got this tip from an ex-Marine. He said they always used lemon furniture polish when cleaning the latrines so they wouldn't have to work so hard or as often between inspections!
ReplyDeleteI just tried this and it looks really greasy, what am i doing wrong here?
ReplyDeleteHELP!!!
Just read everyones response but no answer is it Lemon Pledge you are using? I want to do this but I want the right stuff. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWould it work the same on textured glass?
ReplyDeleteIt should. It works on tile.
DeleteIt should. It works on tile.
DeleteSo is it Lemon Pledge? I don't think it ever got answered
ReplyDeletei did it! i used Pledge lemon spray, sprayed it on heavy, waited 15 min, rinsed, waited a couple min. then wiped dry. Awesome! thx!
ReplyDeleteJust tried this and it didn't work for me. :( I used Lemon Pledge and followed all directions. It could be that the glass shower door has the water spots etched into the glass since it's an older door. It looks great and shiney when it's wet, but as soon as it's completely dry I get the little white water spots again which make the glass looking overall cloudy.
ReplyDeleteThis did not work for me. :( I know for a fact that we live in a town that has some of the hardest water in the US, so I think it's just the stubborn hard water here. Also, I used "Endust" as opposed to "Pledge." Not sure if that makes a difference, but I'm so disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI tried this and it worked! My shower looks fabulous!! Thanks for sharing.
