Upcycled Earrings Toot (Tutorial)

*Be sure to check the 100 Followers Page Tab at the top of the page for ALL the winners this week!*

HAPPY TUESDAY, MY WONDERFUL FRIENDS!
Well, last week I went on a shopping spree on etsy.com buying up a ton of supplies to make some handmade goodness for the upcoming craft show. One of the items I bought:
Private Reserved Listing for glAMERICA
I bought over 1,000 of these cute little boogers!
The seller was a dream to work with! SNOW6154 bead, crystals, and more. They have a ton of wonderful items including my little flowers. They also have tons of cabs and findings. Not only were they quick to reply to ALL of my inquiries but they were so unbelievably nice. BUT here is the best part...they are from MISSOURI!! Awww, I love buying "local!" Please go check them out and let tell them I sent you. Plus, right now they are running a special with 20%off  just use the code 20PERCENTOFF during check out. If you cannot find anything for yourself, no problem just pick anything and HAVE IT SENT TO ME! LOL, JK !! Okay, maybe a little. *I was in no way compensated for referring you to this shop. I am mentioning it because I bought a TON of stuff from different etsy sellers and this was one of the best experiences! SO, I just wanted to show them some love!!
Anywhooooo, it got me thinking about how in the world they make these aluminum flowers. So, I googled it. And came up empty-handed but I found this tutorial on how to make aluminum flower out of recycled soda cans! You can see the full tutorial here, on Sherri's blog.  (BTW for all you paper crafters out there Sherri's blog Bits and Pieces of Me has a plethora of ideas and inspiration!)

But this is how I did mine:
Supplies Needed:
Soda Can (clean and empty, come on it is not MONDAY anymore)
Scissors/The utility kind (I will not even tell you what I used, okay twist my arm...a huge knife)
Super Glue (however I think there must be a better glue to use, suggestions?)
Toothpick
Acrylic Gems
Earring Blanks
Styrofoam Block
Foil covered cutting block (don't ask you already know I am crazy)
Here is my tutorial:
See a knife and a soda can. NO COMMENTS ABOUT MY OLD NASTY BAKE WARE PLEASE. NOT TO WORRY-WE NEVER BAKE. ASK MY GOOD FRIEND JENN @ ROOK NO. 17, I bur water. Ugh, my poor family.

Stab the can (it helps relieve stress) and carefully cut
the top off like this...

BE VERY CAREFUL THE EDGES HERE ARE SHARP.
I am sure there are better tools to use but I don't have them and
I am super cheap and I HAVE THE PATIENCE OF A FLEA
so I had to try it.
Cut down the side of the can and around the bottom
to create a metal sheet like this...
I also cut off the sharp jagged edges.
Get your punch and PUNCH...
See how easy that was!
It makes a pretty pattern in the can too!
Now just bend your pieces how you would like, super
glue them all together the way you want, and add a little
bling if you wanna!
Attach to earring post and TA-DAAAA you are finished!
I have already had 2 custom orders for these! SWEET!
I WOULD LIKE TO STRESS THAT I MADE THESE EARRINGS USING THE DUMBEST AND MOST UNSAFE WAY POSSIBLE! THIS TOOT IS JUST FOR GUIDELINES AND TO SHOW YOU HOW EASY THESE UP-CYCLED EARRINGS ARE TO MAKE! IF YOU WANT TO FOLLOW THIS TOOT BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE PATIENCE OF A FLEA, JUST LIKE ME, THEN
PLEASE USE CAUTION AND BE VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL!! I CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU CUT OFF YOUR FINGER. SO DON'T DO THAT!
Did you all know that I have had 2 custom order in the last week? Wanna see what I made my lovely customers?
Order No. 1 for a birthday Girl~
Headband #1
Headband #2
Custom Tutu like the one I posted previously but added more "grass."
ORDER No. 2~ Little Miss Alabama - BAMA Hair Flair! It turned out so great!!

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A TERRIFIC TUESDAY!
HUGS~
JENNI
