Homemade Birthday Gift

Princess had a birthday party to attend this weekend. It was a JB theme party, which is every little girl’s dream, I imagine. Plus, it was at a bowling alley. They had a blast! Princess said she almost got a “spare” on some one else's ball/lane. LOL! I did not get to go since everyone at my house is sick but she told me all about it. Any way, this is what we made for her friend. Since she missed all 5 days of school last week (due to illness) she and I had plenty of time to work up something fabulous!

I embroidered an owl and the little girls name on 1 piece of felt.

On another piece of felt I sewed on pieces of sparkle velvet ribbon (so it is non-slip and non of the clips will get lost). Then I put the wrong sides together, did a blanket stitch around and voila hair clippie holder.
Plus, we made all of the cute clippies too. I bought all of these designs from GG Designs

Do any of you love them? Would any like a giveaway? I may have made extras just in case some of you were interested so stay tuned. I have a couple of other things to giveaway first though. Winking smile
On a side note: This is the first time I am attempting to use Windows Live Writer and watermark my photos. I found out last week that someone I thought I could trust used my work for their own personal gain. I have done a lot of research over the weekend and a lot of sole searching. I have some decisions to make, quite honestly. I know you all are more than aware that I do not advertise on my blog, I did not monetize, I do not accept payments or anything for my content. I started this blog as a way to track/journal my business development. However, this little frog blossomed into something else entirely and I have made some fabulous friends, contacts, and am inspired daily by my blogging community. Now, I am hurt, disgusted, frustrated, and you know mostly I am hurt. I am one of those people that would give you the shirt off my back if you asked for it. I hardly ever say no (which is not necessarily a good quality) and want more than anything to see others succeed. But not at my expense.  I am not sure yet how to handle this situation and more importantly I had no idea that I needed to protect myself from what I will call a thief (they stole my work, writing, etc. that’s a thief, right?). I never in a million years thought that anyone would want or need to copy my grammatically incorrect, make my English teacher sister cringe, incoherent babbling and call it there own.
I do not want to bring attention to the author that stole my work, they do not deserve the traffic, the time, or the energy.
I just want you all to know that posting might be sparse while I try to sort this out. I will not be doing any more guest post for any one (at least for now). I am sure other changes will take place too but I am just not sure what those are yet.
I also want you all to be thinking about how to protect your own work! I guess maybe have an action plan on stand-by just in case you find yourself in this situation someday. According to what I have read it not a matter of IF someone will steal your work but a matter of WHEN.
I will keep you posted.

  1. Love the hair clip holder, my daughter needs one of these:)
Sorry to hear about the person taking stuff from your blog, that is awful, hope you get it sorted out soon. It always amazes me that people would do that, why???

  2. How cute! I am really starting to love owls more and more, seeing so many great owls out there, like this one.

  3. Sorry someone stole for you. It's sad what people will do. I watermark all my pictures for that very reason.

  4. What a cute little hairclip holder! Great job!

I've seen and experienced blog photos and posts being taken a few times. I now watermark my photos - knowing that it is possible that people could take my work and repost it - but hopefully if things are watermarked nobody can pass the work off as their own! I also signed up for my free copyright, and all of my posts are now automatically saved and copyrighted by that!
Thanks for linking to a Round Tuit!
Hope you have a fabulous week!

  5. this is such a cute gift! you're so crafty! {did you ever find your scissors?}

so sorry that you had to go through that. watermarking is an excellent idea. especially in the middle area of the photo like you did {i do it too}. not sure if it makes you feel better or not, but this happens all the time. through my networking, i've found out there are entire sites built on nothing but stolen posts. just remember, it's your intellectual property. if you find something like this on blogger, you can report it and it'll be taken down. let me know if you need more info!

sadly there are bad people all over the place. don't let them get you down...then they win! love ya!

  6. Jenni, your embroidered clips are incredible!

I'm so sorry that you've been having those negative experiences with your blog. There are definitely a few bad apples out there that make the whole barrel seem tainted. I hope you'll find your way through this trial, and will continue to share your talent, friendship and creativity!

  7. Super cute gift. Love the clips, although I doubt my boys would wear them. Thanks for sharing at Bacon Time.
